Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers
monday morning i woke up early to go to work. jane visited the art galleries and antique shops in the french quarter.
for lunch we all went up to lake pontchartrain, then drove back down through the garden district dropping jane off to do some sightseeing. i met up with her after work, did some window shopping on magazine street and heard about all the cool stuff she learned during her self-guided tour of the garden district.
monday night was jane’s last, so on a recommendation we went to lemon grass. the ambiance was lovely, the appetizers so-so, but… jane had a superb spinach salad with straw-sized pieces of apple, bacon layered through-out, and for dinner she had the most beautifully cooked pork tenderloin with the lightest whipped ginger sweet potatoes, a hoisin cherry sauce, all garnished with small, soft, spiced cubes of apple. oh my god.
my mixed green salad was more a step in the “i need more roughage” direction. for dinner i had homemade lobster tortellini with a lobster tail in a wonderful tomato cream sauce. mmm. mmm.
we were contemplating heading back to muriel’s for dessert (jane still cooing over their almond brittle garnish) when they brought out the desert menu. white and dark chocolate mousse. that’s all i have to say about that.
we walked back through the french quarter, eventually stopping at a club on bourbon where Dwayne Dopsie & the Zydeco Hellraisers, seen previously at jazz fest, were attracting quite a crowd. we got a table, we got some abita amber, and it wasn’t long before our tailfeathers were shaking.
Read your New Orleans blog. Weighed myself this morning. Gained 3 pounds? It’s all your fault! Off to the gym :(
