Hot springs in a hot place

Given the success we had with our first tour in Bali, we decided to book a second one last Thursday. We chose an ambitious full day program starting in Ubud and winding our way to Lovina on the north coast. Unfortunately our driver’s command of English was less confident, so we got very little commentary along the way—which made the tour feel like a series of disjointed stops punctuated by long silent drives, rather than a coherent and enriching cultural experience. Oh well. Here were the highlights.

After being dropped off in Lovina for a high-priced resort buffet lunch (90,000 rupiah per person or about $9!), we continued on to the Air Panas Banjar hot springs, which was by far the highlight of the trip. It was sunny and humid, not exactly prime hot springs weather, but we still had a lot of fun giving ourselves impromptu deep tissue massages under the 3 meter high waterspouts.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU BOTH. ENJOY 1-1-11. LOVE, MOM

Susan

I am loving your blog–I “discovered” it while googling Cap Cleveland as a friend is currently sailing on it from Auckland to Savannah after traveling around the world. Your trip is fantastic and your descriptions are wonderful. We too have enjoyed Bali about 15 years ago and also stayed at Sanur Beach at the Tandjung Sari. We too bought art from Ubud but got a smaller piece which we carried home–I have fond memories everytime I look at it. Happy travels and keep on blogging so we can enjoy too!

Happy new year!!!! You look so relaxed….Bisoussssss

Thanks mom!

Susan, thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed my blogging from the middle of the ocean. You’ll have to show your friend our posts when he/she lands (that is assuming they weren’t so geeky as to bring the internet with them). As it turns out, we got a little Cap Cleveland Alumni Club starting ;)

Julie and fam—bisous from Bali!

Bali looks ace! I may even get down there sometime… till then continue to be the adventurer that I’m vicariously living through.
