Field of white and yellow flowers

I’m not sure what these are called. Also known as daisies! (thanks Eric)

Field of white and yellow flowers

Bellis perennis is a common European species of Daisy, often considered the archetypal species of that name, though many other related plants share the name; to distinguish it from other daisies, it is sometimes qualified as Common Daisy, Lawn Daisy or occasionally English daisy.

ummm….seriously?

“umm seriously” that I didn’t know these were daisies? Yep, I didn’t know. They were so small, about the size of a quarter or half-dollar. I thought daisies were bigger.

I am shocked. Daisies are my mom’s favorite flower, though, so maybe you didn’t grow up with them decorating plates, curtains, and various other surfaces in your home– not to mention filling your garden.

English daisy is probably about right – these are what I grew up thinking of as daisies, little wild flowers all over the lawn.

We generally have better lawns in the UK though, with dandelions, daisies, moss and cricket (the game) as well as grass and fewer ants.
