This isn’t that surprising. Piracy is still a really big international problem. Thousands of smaller vessels are attacked every year, and the attacks often prove deadly. The other interesting thing is that, to my understanding, the tactics, rules of engagment and level and brutality of force ours on other (eg UK) navies will use wtih pirates is pretty Roman. Lets just say that the Geneva convention evidently does not apply to pirates.
