hummus
i first heard of hummus sometime in highschool from christina mehl, who was working at thundercloud subs (check out that website for some pretty incredible web design). she was describing some sandwich whose principle ingredient was this pureed chickpea and garlic spread, much to the bemusement of her audience. i’ve had numerous neutral run-ins with hummus since then, most i can probably thank jackie for, but i didn’t really enjoy the hummus until a few weeks ago when jean set out some from whole foods with pretzels and blue corn tortilla chips (taaasty!) prior to our low-key cook-out that became a cook-in. so today after scavenging for something simple to eat at weaver street with no success, i picked up some ‘traditional hummus’ and some black bean tortilla chips.
