My co-author and I have been thinking about doing trailers for our book; it wouldn’t be too hard to release selected clips from the bundled DVD as video podcasts.
Author Jeff Rivera made his own trailer in Flash, and describes how to do it here (Step 1 is Hire a Flash Expert, but it’s amazing how little he had to pay.)
Related idea: At the San Jose Book Expo, one of the publishers was giving out a CD with authors reading the first chapter of their upcoming books.
