I have a view that it’s to encourage him to engage on doha, copenhagen and the G20, which he hasn’t to date.

Honestly, I haven’t looked into the background any, I was just as surprised as anyone to have stumbled upon the news this morning.

But that’s an interesting take. Sort of like a “pre-nobel prize” Or a passive-aggressive Nobel Prize. “We’re going to make you feel guilty for lack of deserving this, and thus force you to earn it.” Or maybe the simple act of succeeding George W Bush as president is worthy of the highest honors.

I remember thinking the same about Yasser Arafat in 1994 for his efforts in creating peace in the middle east!, but the only reason he survived and was known as a ‘peacemaker’ is because he could become a martyr for the Palestinian cause if he were assassinated or even arrested by Israel! also, I would say being the USA’s first Black president warrants the win based on the prize’s history and recipients!

Yeah, I’ve since come to the conclusion that Norwiegians are Democrats.
