Just discovered the SF food blog Hedonia tonight (by way of looking up botulism and curing olives), and stumbled upon this: The great tomato canning of 2008

“botulism and curing olives” – weren’t you curing olive yourself, if so that combination of words is a bit concerning – becareful!

I can hardly wait for the great tomato canning of 2009 already! We are in the middle of using our last jar from last year’s effort. :(

Dad, yep someone had mentioned being nervous about botulism—and I had no clue it could be a problem. We may end up just tossing the jar we’d had soaking in olive oil.

Sean, I am very impressed with your output. We did 7 pints of strawberry jam this morning (read about it here: From the farm to the jar), and we’re exhausted.

Hey, maybe you could start making your own botox! I got a shot of botox for a twitch in my eyelid that had been going on for almost 2 years!… I learned a lot about botox before I got the shot…
on canning, a local company just started canning excess fruits and vegetables for farmers with extra yields they are not able to sell! ~CHEERS~
