WOW, Google comes out against Proposition 8:

While there are many objections to this proposition — further government encroachment on personal lives, ambiguously written text — it is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8. While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8 — we should not eliminate anyone’s fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love.

I am proud of Google for sticking by its employees.

The Top Ten Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong
source – the Internet
1. Homosexuality is not natural. Real people always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4. Heterosexual marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all; women are still property, blacks still aren’t supposed to marry whites.
5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if homosexual marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears’ 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6. Heterosexual marriages are valid because they produce children. Homosexual couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.
7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in North America.
9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Surprisingly this little link is attracting a lot of annoying comments. Sauj, yours almost got 86ed, but I recognized your name, and read a little further than the first line to see where you where going. (Note: your blog URL is returning a 404 at the moment)

Anyway, everyone else might want to check out Question Intolerance before decided to leave a comment here.

Go Google! Thanks for posting this link. I almost misread Sauj’s comment above, too. Although I’m based in Nevada, I maintain a website for API Equality in LA (apiequalityla.org) and we’ll be posting inspiring stories in the coming weeks, in advance of Prop 8.

Sauj,

You’re Top 10 reason why Gay Marriage is absolutely wrong…but funny none the less.
1.Homosexuality is not natural? Say who? Religion? Yet science has shown that those who are homosexual have shown to have smaller brains than those who are heterosexual.
2.Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay? LOL. You’re born gay, but there are some cases where people choose to be gay…but look at all social factors, son.
3.Legalizing gay marriage will lead to people marrying their animals? This must be one HUGE fallacy if I ever saw one. This argument is called a slippery slope. Just because the government will legalize gay marriage doesn’t necessarily mean it will legalize everything else.
4.Blacks aren’t supposed to marry whites? Women are property? You must in some other year. Welcome to 2008. Those years and rules are loooong gone!
5.Straight-marriage will be less meaningful? to who? this must be one horrible reason. Marriage will always be meaningful to both homosexuals and heterosexuals.
6. Heterosexual marriages produce children. Good reason, but not really. Not all heterosexual people can have children, butyet they have the option of getting married? That’s unfair! How about old people? They can’t produce chldren, but yet they can get married? That’s unfair again!
7.LMAO. This is way too funny. Staright parents don’t just raise staright kids. I know way too many gay people who have heterosexual parents (obviously! how else would they get on earth?!)
8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion? By which one? all of them? Cause that’s false! There is a religion (buddhism) that does not see homoseuxality as a bad thing or “sin”.
9. hahaha. Divorce is soo high right now in the United States, and there a lot of strong people that were raised only by one person (Barrack Obama for an example). So raised by 1 parent…that excuse won’t work either.
10. Our norms are changing everyday if we notice it or not. Everything around us is changing consciously or unconsciously. Sorry, that excuse sucks too.

So….Sauj…those excuses or reasons why homosexual marriage has been debunked! Try again later.

By the way, I’m a christian and straight. I think it’s time people not to view things so ignorant. It’s not like most of the people go to church anyways. Lastly, where do we draw the line between church and state?

Till next time….

OMG Rob, what Sauj wrote was a PARODY.

mimi

im not trying to be rude or sound like a b!tch. So dont be mad. But isn’t marriage a religious act? and God says that marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman correct? so since its a religious act and the man in charge of that act says it has to be one way isn’t that how it is supposed to be?

i have no problem with gays. none what-so-ever. you should be able to spend your life with the one you love no matter your sexual preference. but i just dont think it should be called marriage.

again…i am not tryin to be rude or start a fight.

mimi, marriage is also a civil act that often involves getting a state-approved government license, which conveys certain legal benefits upon the partners in a marriage. this is what people are fighting for. not the word. the rights.
