Riding BART
MC Soleil and I are taking White Noise Lounge on the road—to France! So posting might be a bit irregular, depending on the good sounds we find along the way.
To get in the spirit of travel, I took a recording on BART between Daly City and South San Francisco, on the way to the airport. It’s not as “pure” as I’d like, you can hear people talking and the occasional cough, but I suppose it adds something to its vérité. For anyone who’s never ridden on BART before, it can be surprisingly screechy, especially at high speed underground. Gives me a newfound appreciation for the Paris metro’s tires.

I wish there was a way to listen to this on a loop! Of all of your white noise, RIDING BART is my favorite :) I just play it over and over and over while I work.
Melanee, that’s funny and slightly odd (but in a good way). Earplugs would be my usual response to BART, but to each her own. I’m guessing you could configure your media player or iPod to play it continuously, no? That would be essentially a loop…
Hello again so many years later, Justin! I just want you to know that for all of these years I’d bookmarked this and would come back to this BART track and use it to work. I am so sad that it’s gone now but I just want to thank you so much for it! There are so many train recordings on YouTube but I always loved this one best. Hope you’re well where ever you are riding this Pandemic thing out! :-)
Melanee, fixed! The old Flash-based audio player plugin I was using is no longer supported by browsers, but thankfully browsers now have their own native audio player built-in—to which I’ve converted this, and all my other audio posts.
OMG…hooray! Thank you, Justin!
Hahahaha, omg I’m so happy – I just uploaded it to YouTubeMusic and set it to loop :-)
