I was all set to be annoyed by the hackneyed younger woman/older man crap, but it was one of the most interesting and sensitive portrayals of a woman of a certain age (the younger version) that I’ve read. I love Steve Martin anyway, but this portrait in self-defeating ennui sealed it.
