What a concept:
Even though Holga D is a digital camera, in order to achieve its simplicity, it reduces the feature set to absolute minimum. Even the display is not there! So your photographs remain mysterious until you download the images. This makes the experience quite similar to the good old film based cameras.
I’d maintain that not requiring asparagus bands or very specific garbage ties to operate correctly means that user experience is incomplete. It’s not just delayed gratification in not being able to review your photos immediately, but the whole ritual of un-taping and banding your Holga, removing the garbage ties to release your film, and then reversing the whole procedure to load film that is essential. It doesn’t matter what you’ve shot, you have to prepare your offering correctly in order to get photos. Otherwise you’ll get everything developed and realize you left the lens cap on for 8 of your 12 shots…
