This bothers me VERY VERY much:

Which search engines other than Google received requests [from the Department of Justice] to provide search records? Yahoo, AOL, and MSN were also asked to supply search records information, and all complied. Google did not, and that is why the DoJ asked a federal judge on Wednesday to order the company to do so.

FIGHT THE MAN!

Fight The Man, indeed! This is really worrisome. If all of the search engines wanted to do business w/ China — and one would reasonably expect that they would — why didn’t they all band together and say they’d do it on the condition that there would be no censorship? Wouldn’t that have provided them some very real leverage? How long until they have to report who looks up Falun Gong and “democracy,” etc.?
