the figure looks a little bit like a communism- work-memorial

The best part about this sculpture (of which my photo only shows a partial detail) is that it’s one of a pair of almost totemic sculptures that “guard” the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange building in San Francisco—a capitalist institution if there ever was one. Perhaps there’s some intentional irony in that, or perhaps he sculpted them as a reminder to the capitalists, but it’s no more ironic than the fact that the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange building is now occupied by a gym. Sign of the times.
