Claudine and I went to Novella’s place when she had an open house a few weeks ago – same day as the Eat Real festival. Among other things, we watched her kill, pluck, and gut a rooster in about ten minutes.

Her book Farm City is (awesome, by the way) largely responsible for our current predicament – we’re obsessed by the idea of raising chickens in our backyard.

I haven’t yet uploaded photos from that visit – will do soon. Novella also raises rabbits and chickens (and at one point, tried pigs). She’s very cool – I’d recommend going to hear her speak at one of her readings if you can… :)
