Just used the UTF-8 Database Converter to upgrade my WordPress database’s character-set from latin1 to utf8. A number of people have reported data truncation problems (which may be due more to an issue with MySQL than the plugin itself) so YMMV. I made sure to test it on a backup copy of my database to ensure that that wasn’t a problem.
