hmm. that sounds like it might be rather involved, though it would avoid the problem of gear slippage. imagine animating a bunch of them together to form an adder or something. we’d have a digital/visual representation of an analog representation of a digital computer. blows my mind.

yes, I agree, I was picturing whole bunches together to form something massive, such as a 32 bit adder.
